Aside that it is February-Love month, Valentine's day! In the hospital we also celebrate the Heart Health Month! Today, we had a health fair in which a lot people gather to learn more about health. I was so happy to see all these people interested in their health. They wanted to know more about: Heart disease, mental illness, appropriate nutrition and exercise. We all wear red color as a symbol of our commitment to take care of our hearts, take care of ourselves! Did you know that heart disease is the Number #1 killer of women? That's why we need to take care of our bodies and inform others how to prevent heart diseases.
Risk Factors for heart disease include:
*High blood pressure
*High blood cholesterol
*Diabetes
*Smoking
*Being overweight
*Family history of early heart disease
*Age (55 or older for women)
It is important to have a physical once a year!!! "Have a heart. A healthy one. Promise to keep it healthy."
