St. Patrick's Day!!!

Some call it St. Patrick's Day. Others prefer St. Paddy's Day. Whatever you call it, March 17 holds a special place in the heart of the Irish -- and those who just wish they were. Let's go beyond the parades and green beer to find out more about one of the liveliest holidays on the calendar.

In the big apple we have a big Irish community so it is great to have our own parade! The first parade was on 1752, New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the world’s oldest civilian parade and the largest in the United States with over 150,000 participants travelling miles and miles away to appreciate the beauty, color and music of this event. It starts at 11:00AM too bad I am at work but maybe I can see it on my lunch break :) When I was coming to work every bar is open already to have a green beer, drinks, and get wasted... next day HANGOVER! ahahah LOL! I guess it is something fun, something traditional... I imagine the feeling next day. Maybe is worthy for them.

Who is St. Patrick? Although he's the patron saint of Ireland and one of Christianity's most widely known figures, little is known about his life. Here's what we do know:
-He was born in the 4th century C.E. to a wealthy family in Britain, and his father was a Christian deacon.
-When he was 16, he was kidnapped and sold into slavery, where he turned to religion for solace.
How did he escape?
Years later he was ordained as a priest and did some missionary work, but some well-known stories are myths.

Why the green color? I love this color aside from my favorite (purple)
Irish were green color because it's an illustration of the doctrine of the Trinity. Also, Ireland is known as the "Emerald Isle" due to the lush ground cover of clover over the entire country.

I really appreciate the fact that I am able to learn from every culture. I love it! I am able to see different points of view and opinions. I'm able to eat differetn food every day. Although I might not agree at some degree but I respect every single one of them. God bless us all!
