At the senior citizen center, this 93 year old lady wakes up very early to organize her favorite game: Bingo. She sits down and tries to pull up her chair and waits for all her friends to play with her. She really enjoys their company; they are like her family now that her kids and grandkids left her behind. Perhaps, she is forgotten. When was the last time they came to visit her? She doesn't know, she doesn't remember. It has to be a long time ago. Her memory is intact; her thoughts are there, her memories. She vivid every moment in life as if today is going to be her last day. While she plays bingo, smiling, she forgets to take her medication. She doesn't remember if she took it or not. The doctor calls her name and asks her to come to his office. This lady stars crying like a baby, really! With tears in her eyes, she doesn't want to leave her friends, she doesn't want to leave the game, she doesn't want to let go, she wants to stay there forever...
"Don't ever take away someone's hope; it may be all they have to hold on to"
A friend of mine was very upset at her boyfriend because he did not come to see her yesterday night. He didn't call her. She said: "That's it, I am going to leave him, I am not going to listen to his BS." She called him without even thinking a second that something happened. She left a message saying all this bad things and cursing him out. She was very mad. Today, she feels terrible, she just found out that her boyfriend had a car accident while he was coming to see her...
"Don't make decisions when you are angry"
Painting is such a pain sometimes; it is so much work because the furniture needs to be cover. The room needs to be empty, moving things here and there. Back hurts. Ahhhh... Therefore, it is easier to ask somebody else to do it for you. Of course, you need to make sure that the person knows how to do it...
"Don't pay for a job until is finished"
An 8 year old girl is selling chocolates in the street, at home, at church, to make the more sells and get a prize. The IPod that she always wanted to have. However, few people bought this candy to help out but it wasn't enough... She didn't get the prize; she didn't win, this time...
"Don't expect life to be fair"
Marcie is afraid to leave her husband because she doesn't want to live alone. She is so use to see him, sleep next to him, come to the house, even when he is drunk, even when he doesn't want to talk to her, even when is violent. It is a vicious cycle. She is not able to leave him. She puts the worst case scenario if she leaves him. "He is going to kill me" She needs courage and make a decision soon or something worst could happen...
"Loneliness is a state of mind. You don't need other people to love yourself"
A special prayer for those people who are suffering in Chile and Haiti. We could give a little that can be turn into a lot...One little heartbeat at a time can make a difference. This year 2010 is full of misfortunes. God hear our prayers!
